Chill Out!

In the past few years, tart frozen yogurt places have sprung up all over the nation, and the trend doesn't seem to be going away any time soon. Thank goodness for that, because I'm a big fan of froyo! It's the perfect summertime (really, anytime) snack, and I'd like to think that it's super healthy for you. Something about live cultures.

So when Caitlin told me yesterday that a new froyo place opened up in our neighborhood, I was ecstatic. Hours later, we found ourselves at this adorable storefront. Located across from the Starbucks on Wydown and tucked in between Protzel's and I Fratellini (could this row of eateries get ANY better?), Chill is all I ever wanted... and within walking distance! Dream. Come. True.

It's really cute inside, but it was such a nice day that all the patrons enjoyed their froyo outside. Caitlin and I followed suit, taking our froyo across the street to a quaint little park. But not before I got a shot of my naked froyo: a bit of original tart, mango, and blood orange.

Every flavor was delicious, but the blood orange (the pink one) really stood out. Refreshing, new, and unique. The blood orange flavor is not at all overpowering, and I found myself regretting that I did not get more!

Chill charges by weight (as does Froyo in the Loop), which I love because I like to put a lot of random things in my froyo, and if they charged by topping I'd be screwed. Here's my final creation:

The gooey thing you see is sea salted caramel. Sea salted caramel, oh joy! Chill makes their own, and it is divine. I never put salted caramel on my froyo before, but now I can't imagine froyo without it. Sadly, Chill does not offer mochi as a topping... but I'm gonna do my best to change that before summer is over. They're gonna see my face so often pleading for mochi that it's gonna happen. No worries. Leave it up to my whiny self.

And here's Caitlin's final creation:

She is so wise and healthy!

The caramel cups are another fantabulous topping.

I put in only 4 because I was wary, but omg next time I'm putting in 100.

Say hello to Caitlin enjoying froyo + sun + life.

It's settled. I'm going back to Chill tomorrow!

  1. HAHAHAHAHA
    Caitlin's is SO NAKED.
Yours is A MESS. But I love it. Also - those froyo flavors sound SO interesting - I would totally get so much blood orange. And caramel cups. And salted caramel.

And yes, you definitely need to leave behind mochi toppings as your STL legacy !

  3. Ha! She is wise and healthy! Did she steal any bites from your fro-yo when you weren't looking?? She's been known to do that!
